Princess Yachts is seeking a dynamic Concept Composite Designer to help craft the next generation of world-class yachts. This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse and passionate team, shaping the future of luxury boat design while ensuring precision and performance in every new model.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be part of the Development Concept team, responsible for determining the tooling, composite, and assembly direction of each new Princess model in alignment with the strategic direction set by the Technical Directors. The role involves producing accurate 3D models and production drawings to bring GRP tooling and composite structure concepts to life.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including engineers, naval architects, and production experts—the successful candidate will help overcome design challenges and ensure that each concept is fully realised, from early ideas through to final delivery.
What the Role Involves:
• Lead the Charge in Concept Design: Create 'Concept Packs,' 3D models, and detailed production drawings to clearly communicate GRP tooling and composite structure concepts, along with boat specific mechanisms, such as bathing platforms, pantograph doors, tender launches, sliding roofs, awnings etc.
• Collaborate and Innovate: Work alongside experienced designers, engineers, and other concept departments to solve complex design problems and create world-class solutions.
• Deliver with Precision: Ensure designs are fit for purpose, meet manufacturing standards, and adhere to project timelines.
• Drive Quality: Produce designs that align with Princess Yachts' high standards, maintaining the brand's reputation as a market leader.
• Project Management: Effectively manage time and deliverables, ensuring that key project dates are met while staying aligned with department objectives.
What You’ll Bring:
• 2+ years in a CAD environment, with a solid understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM).
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or Design Engineering—or significant hands-on experience in a relevant field.
• Proficiency in NX 3D CAD, with experience creating detailed models and production drawings. Strong working knowledge of Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks, identify solutions, and address design challenges with innovative thinking.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across departments to bring concepts to life.
